On January 18th and 19th, we attended (capsule) New York. It was great to meet everyone. The staff at (capsule) were amazing…an extra special thanks to Kristyna Caspelich at BPMW. We were especially impressed by the talent at Comune, Norse Projects and Billy Reid.

True organic cottons are grown without pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, and chemical fertilizers in solid, which has been free of them for previous three years.

Consider these facts:

1_Conventional cotton is the most chemically dependent crop  there is using 25 percent of all insecticides manufactured.
2_Convential cotton uses 3/4 pound of chemicals to produce enough cotton for a pair of jeans.
3_20,000 deaths occur each year from pesticide poisoning, a good portion of these from cotton farming according to the World Health Organization (WHO) and toxins leaking into local water sources.

We get our denims from Nihon Menpu in Okaypa Japan. A cult status among denimphiles its also our favorie textile mill on earth. They set up shop in 1917 and have kept the handcrafted techniques and aesthetics of Japanese textiles alive. The organic denim is woven on 1917-style selvage shuttle looms.  When it comes to selvage no one can match their heavier weights with loose irregular weaves and nappy surfaces. The dyes are from fermented natural indigo leaves still to this day all made by hand.

Peter Sutherland is a New York City based artist. His work employs some of the techniques of traditional documentary photography to capture the hidden beauty of ordinary objects and everyday situations. He’s released several publications and films, most recently Buck Shots (powerHouse Books) and Tierney Gearon: The Mother Project (Zeitgeist Films).
